El arte es nuestro derecho innato, el medio más poderoso de acceder a nuestra propia experiencia y vida imaginativa y a la de otras gentes. Al redescubrir y recuperar continuamente la humanidad de los seres humanos, el arte es crucial para la visión democrática. Un gobierno que se aleja más y más de la búsqueda de la democracia, verá cada vez menos "utilidad" en alentar a los artistas, considerará el arte una obscenidad o un engaño.
Art is our human birthright, our most powerful means of access to our own and another's experience and imaginative life. In continually rediscovering and recovering the humanity of human beings, art is crucial to the democratic vision. A government tending further and further away from the search for democracy will see less and less "use" in encouraging artists, will see art as obscenity or hoax.
