En demasiadas ocasiones nos lanzamos a comprar un montón de paquetes de arcilla de diferentes colores. Y en otras tantas nos damos cuenta de que, a mitad de un trabajo, se nos ha gastado ese tono que tanto nos gusta. Otras veces nos ocurre que tenemos una gran cantidad de un color que no usamos y que sólo nos ocupa espacio en el taller.
In too many occasions we jump to buy lots of packages of different colored clay. And so many, we realize that, in the middle of a job, we had spent the tone that we like. Sometimes it happens that we have a lot of color that we don’t use and that takes up space in the studio.
Para evitar todo esto, os recomiendo aplicar la teoría del color en vuestros trabajos con arcilla y os escribo una pequeña guía para poder hacerlo.

Colores primarios / Primary colors.
Son aquellos que no se pueden obtener a partir de ningún otro. En el caso concreto de la arcilla polimérica se trata del Amarillo, Cyan y Magenta.
They are those that can’t be obtained by mixing others. In the case of polymer clay is the Yellow, Cyan and Magenta.

Dicho esto los tres colores primarios serán Amarillo, Turquesa y Magenta.

Colores Secundarios / Secondary colors.
Son aquellos que se obtienen mezclando dos primarios.

- Si mezclamos Amarillo con Magenta obtenemos la gama de los Naranjas que son: Amarillos anaranjados, Naranja, Rojo Naranja, Rojo y Rojo púrpura.
- Mixing Yellow with Magenta we obtain the range of Oranges, which are: Yellow orange, Orange, Red Orange, Red and Red Purple.
- Si mezclamos Magenta con Turquesa obtenemos la gama de los Morados que son: Púrpura rojizo, Púrpura, Púrpura azulado, Azul purpúreo y Azul.
- Mixing Turquoise with Magenta we obtain the range of Violets, which are purple-red, Purple, Purple-blue, blue-purple and Blue.
- Si mezclamos Turquesa con Amarillo obtenemos la gama de los Verdes que se compone de: Azul verdoso, Verde azulado, Verde, Verde amarillento, y Amarillo verdoso.
- Mixing together Turquoise with Yellow we obtain the range of Greens that consists of: Blue Green, Teal, Green and green yellow.
Variando la cantidad de cada uno de los colores primarios conseguiremos estas tonalidades.
